Prayer for the Victims of the Bombing in Boston

Photo: Joe Thorn

They surrounded me, the snares of death,
with the anguish of the tomb;
they caught me, sorrow and distress.
I called on the Lord's name.
O Lord, my God, deliver me!

I will walk in the presence of the Lord
in the land of the living.

Psalm 116

GOD our deliverer,
be with the victims of the bombings in Boston.
Heal the wounded, comfort the afflicted,
and receive the dead into the light of your face.
In this moment of shock and pain,
Help us to respond as people who believe
in the Resurrection of your Son.
Make us instruments of your peace in the world.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The parish community of Saint Cecilia is deeply grieved and extends heartfelt prayers and sympathies for all who have been affected by the Patriot's Day tragedy. May the souls of the departed rest in peace. May the God of healing help the injured and give them hope and courage in the days and weeks ahead. And we pray for those engaged in the continuing work of relief and response.
