Saint Cecilia House & Robert McBride House

In the early 1990s, Saint Cecilia Parish sponsored the development of St. Cecilia House and Robert McBride House. These two facilities were constructed under the direction of the Planning Office for Urban Affairs—a nonprofit housing developer established by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston under the leadership of the then pastor of Saint Cecilia Parish, Monsignor Michael F. Groden.

Located on Kilmarnock Street in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood, St. Cecilia House is a seven-story, 123-unit building that provides affordable housing for seniors. Adjacent to St. Cecilia House, Robert McBride House is a 17-unit affordable housing development providing one-and two-bedroom units for residents with disabilities.

St. Cecilia House and Robert McBride House are both owned by separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and governed by a corporation and board of directors consisting of members of the Saint Cecilia Parish community. Under the support and guidance of Father John Unni, the members who serve on these boards honor the legacy of Monsignor Groden and the initial involvement of Saint Cecilia Parish by continuing to provide oversight and direction for these properties.

Today, both residential communities are in the center of the rapidly changing Fenway neighborhood and continue to provide safe, affordable, and dignified housing for their residents.
